OPDS Parks recognised in the 2019 Hoseasons Diamond Awards
Two OPDS Park Developments, Lode Hall Country Park and New Oaks Farm Lodges were recognised in the 2019 Diamond Awards at the annual Hoseasons Owners Conference recently. No stranger to success, Lode Hall Country Park, were winners (for the second time) in the Lodge Escapes, Lodges and Parks in Britain (small park category) for East of England. New Oaks Farm Lodges were also recognised and were finalists in Lodge Escapes, Lodges and Parks in Britain (small park category) for Devon and Somerset.
Set in beautiful countryside in the heart of the fens, Lode Hall Country Park offers luxury holiday accommodation in a secluded rural location. The lodge park itself is set within the grounds of Lode Hall, a 200-year-old Georgian country house. A haven for wildlife, Lode Hall has been awarded the David Bellamy Gold Award for conservation and is also highly commended by the RSPB.
Omar luxury lodges provide adult only guests with luxury accommodation to enjoy the surroundings and local area. All the lodges have private Jacuzzi hot tubs and there are even luxury, single-bedroom lodges designed especially for couples.
It was only four years ago that Dick and Fran Johnson, the owners of Lode Hall, were looking at ways to generate further income from their countryside estate. Having looked into various options they decided that creating a small exclusive lodge park was the way to go.
Having no experience in the leisure lodge market they enlisted the services of OPDS. Working alongside Dick and Fran, OPDS helped to transform their greenfield site into a luxury holiday retreat. OPDS gave advice on planning, park infrastructure, lodge specification, marketing and the overall guest experience, delivering their vision through in-depth industry knowledge.
OPDS also introduced Dick and Fran to lodge holiday giants Hoseasons. Hoseasons provided input into how Lode hall could deliver the very best lodge holidays in East Anglia with features such as Jacuzzi hot tubs, pet friendly accommodation and free Wi-Fi. Before Dick and Fran knew it the bookings were flooding in, and rather than selling the lodges, they’ve now decided to purely concentrate on holiday lets.
Set on a working farm in the beautiful Somerset countryside, just a 20-minute drive from Glastonbury, New Oaks Farm Lodges is the ideal touring base to explore this beautiful corner of the country. The famous Wookey Hole Caves, historic Wells and Cheddar Gorge are all within a 30-minute drive and the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is just beyond.
With the final lodge in this small, exclusive development recently sited, New Oaks Farm Lodges consists of six well-appointed Omar luxury lodges with stunning countryside views and private hot tubs.
The luxury lodges accommodate up to four people and consist of one double bedroom with en-suite, a twin bedroom, family bathroom and a spacious open-plan living area with lounge, dining and kitchen areas. French doors then lead out onto a private patio area where a hot tub and an outside seating area with wonderful views can be found.
To provide individuality, quality and exceptional service levels, the owners, Gary and Laura, have added their own personal touches to the visitor experience, such as tours of the farm and providing meals. These personal touches alongside the care and attention paid to every aspect of the accommodation and overall experience have already led to fantastic reviews, recommendations and repeat bookings.
New Oaks Farm Lodges also enlisted the services of OPDS. Working alongside Gary and Laura, OPDS helped to transform their site into a luxury holiday retreat, giving advice on planning, park infrastructure, lodge specification, marketing and the overall guest experience.
Richard Sigsworth, Director for OPDS commented: “Both Lode Hall Country Park and New Oaks Farm Lodges are fantastic example of diversification. I’m very proud to have been involved in both projects from the beginning; it just goes to show what hard work can achieve. Recognition is very well deserved.”
